The Generous Blogger poster created for me by the hubs.
This post originally appeared on my first blog, Have Fun, Do Good, in 2011.
I don’t really know what it means to be a generous blogger. I still am a new blogger who has been blogging since December. I already have done some of these points. I don’t care how many followers I have as long as people are reading them. I want my readers to get something out of my blog posts. I write blogs that stay true to who I am. That is why my blog is about spirituality and musicals, the two things that best represent my “inner voice”.
I read other blogs to hopefully gain more followers through commenting. I love my blog just as it is and will continue to blog about things that matter to me.
Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging, Meg, and congratulations on the launch of your blog. You’re almost coming up on your one year anniversary!
“I love my blog just as it is and will continue to blog about things that matter to me.” -> Yay!
This is great! I am a newer blogger and these are all things I aspire to, thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks, Ranae! It’s my pleasure. I love your about page and the photo of you doing a yoga pose on a pretty road. And the broccoli pasta on your Instagram feed looks delish!
Very useful reminder. A decade ago being generous was the natural way to connect us all up. As other social networks have gained primacy and our attention has become more precious it is sometimes easy to slip into attention seeking. In the long term generosity works.
Thanks, Nick! It’s interesting how online culture has changed, isn’t it? When did being generous become “old fashioned?”
