Last week my husband and I went camping in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park. We walked along the paved paths with the summer tourist masses to see the main attractions (The General Sherman Tree, The General Grant Tree, Moro Rock), but my best memories are from when we went for hikes off the paved roads.
I’m not talking about 5-6 mile treks in the wilderness. These were 1.5 mile walks with a few hills here and there on dirt trails where we only saw one or two people.
During these particularly intense times, I think we could all use a break from the well-paved, populated path of the news of the day fueled by the 24-hour news cycle and social media.
It’s important to participate in the collective news experience, but for our own well-being, we also need to spend time consuming stories that make us feel alive.
Take good care of your hearts, my friends.
Britt
